WELCOME! Root Studio School is in downtown Johnson City in the northeast corner of Tennessee -- the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. We are located at 318 East Main Street, one block off I-26 and within an easy 1½ hour drive from Knoxville, TN, Asheville, NC, and Abingdon, Virginia.

We offer drawing and painting classes to students of all levels. Classes are taught in the traditional method of training the eye by direct observation in the areas of landscape, still life, nature drawing, portrait and figure.
