WELCOME! Root Studio School classes are now meeting at 606 Depot Street in Historic Jonesborough, Tennessee. Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee, is located in the northeast corner of the state. We are in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains within an easy 1½ hour drive from Knoxville, TN, Asheville, NC, and Abingdon, Virginia.
Root Studio School is in a century-old feed and seed store by the railroad tracks on 606 Depot Street in Jonesborough. Our new home has 5500 sq. ft. of floor space with ample room to teach, paint and exhibit. This new space will allow us to consolidate our efforts to one location, to increase class sizes, to expand our offerings and to better host events.

We offer drawing and painting classes to students of all levels. Classes are taught in the traditional method of training the eye by direct observation in the areas of landscape, still life, nature drawing, portrait and figure. Frequent workshops allow students intensive study in specific areas.
